Beast Raves typically possess certain properties that make them highly ideal for combos. Unlike its namesake, Beast Rave from the original Bloody Roar, which functions more similar to this game's Hyper Beast mode, Beast Raves in Bloody Roar: Untamed are instead special moves which are unique to the character's Beast mode and require a fraction of their Beast gauge in order to be performed. New gameplay mechanics have also been added, including "Beast Raves". However, when the player is reverted back to human form, either by getting knocked down while the Beast gauge is empty or using a Beast Drive or Beast Rave, the player loses all of their recoverable health. Unlike most fighting games, where sustained damage cannot be healed, Bloody Roar: Untamed allows players to slowly regain recoverable health, marked by a lighter greyish shade in the player’s life meter, by entering Beast mode. Hyper Beast mode is performed by pressing P+K+B together and slowly consumes the Beast gauge as soon as it is activated.

When the player is knocked down while the Beast gauge is empty, the player reverts back to their human form. While in Beast mode, the Beast gauge acts as a second life bar, with the gauge decreasing each time the player gets hit. Players can also sidestep by lightly tapping up or down twice on the d-pad.Īside from the standard health gauge, which decreases as the player sustains attacks, each player has a Beast gauge that increases as the player successfully lands attacks. While under Beast mode, the Beast button also acts as a third attack button for clawing and biting attacks. Meanwhile, the Beast button allows the player to transform into their character’s beast form. Punch, Kick and Guard, as their names indicate, allow the player to perform punches, kicks and block the opponent’s attacks, respectively.
